Following up with the dynamic situation surrounding the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic and its impact on global trade, John I. Haas, Inc. continues to proactively take measures to ensure the safety of our employees and the continuity of supply to customers. Haas is classified as a food and agriculture manufacturer and thus deemed an “essential business” by the Washington State officials. Our manufacturing operations are not disrupted. Our supply chain remains healthy and our warehousing and manufacturing facilities continue to operate as customary.

Haas has made the necessary preparations to have sufficient supply of products, packaging materials and processing ingredients. We are committed to continue providing hop products to our customers.

The safety and health of our employees as well as assuring operations carry on continue to be our top priorities. Thus, Haas has implemented further preventative measures to mitigate the risks associated with the spread of the virus. The following actions have been executed:

Domestic & International Business Travel:
All business travel for all Haas employees remains to be suspended at least through April 30th and we will continue to monitor the situation and extend this policy if necessary. Therefore, we will increase the use of videoconferencing and other means of communication to continue to stay connected with you.

Site Visitations:
All previously scheduled non-essential visits are prohibited including any/all non-essential appointments, meetings, tours, etc. Only visits by third parties essential to the operations are permitted.

Contingency Planning – Risk Reduction:
Haas is in compliance with the Washington State “stay-at-home” order, effective on March 23rd. We have maximized our teleworking policy and have asked all administrative/office employees that are able to work from home to do so until further notice. On-site employees essential to the physical support of operations are still required to practice precautionary health measures including thorough hand washing, use of hand sanitizer, cleaning of door handles and other often-used surfaces, avoiding handshakes, etc.

Required on-site employees have been asked to remain at home when sick or if they suspect they have been exposed to the virus. If able, those employees are expected to telework using virtual alternatives. Furthermore, Haas continues to practice “social distancing” in general (as recommended by CDC and government officials) and limit employee-to-employee contact between shifts and manufacturing sites.

While we have contingency plans in place for our manufacturing, labs, and farm teams in case of rising employee absenteeism due to COVID-19, we are constantly adjusting and updating these plans.
